This paper aims to describe the steps for establishing specifications and conceptual design and to determine the optimal concept of product development. For this purpose, will be developed the quality functions, the analysis of the performances of the competing products, the target values, the general function of the product, the component functions, the collection of concepts, the systemic exploration, the method of contradictions and the product architecture.
