This paper presents the types of standards used in the printing industry in Romania, the current state of the existing terminology dedicated to the printing industry, but also the working methods adopted for the creation of a Romanian dictionary of typographic terms. It also shows how the terms defined by the ISO 12637 family of standards have applicability in all stages of printing production and causal relationship between misunderstanding of terminology of the standards and problems in printing houses and how to remedy these problems
